Arrive at Koraput Railway Station. Check in and relax. Post lunch, visit Sabar Srikhetra, a Jagannath Temple replica nestled in the hills. Explore the local market and Koraput Museum (if open). Overnight stay in Koraput.
Your journey begins as you arrive in Koraput, one of Odisha’s most serene hill stations, known for its cool climate, tribal heritage, and lush greenery. Our representative will receive you at the Koraput Railway Station, followed by a smooth transfer to your hotel or eco-resort nestled in the lap of nature. After lunch and a brief rest, we begin the tour with a visit to Sabar Srikhetra Temple, a peaceful spiritual complex modeled after Puri’s Jagannath Temple. Surrounded by green hills, it offers the perfect introduction to the harmony of culture and nature in Koraput. In the evening, take a guided stroll through the local tribal market, where you’ll witness a vibrant display of colors, handwoven fabrics, forest produce, and spices unique to this region. Learn about the customs of the Paraja and Gadaba tribes, known for their distinctive attire and ornaments. Overnight stay in Koraput.
After breakfast, set off for a scenic forest drive towards Gupteswar, a revered cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the River Kolab. The route itself is breathtaking — winding roads, bamboo forests, and tribal villages along the way. The Gupteswar Cave Temple sits inside a natural limestone cave and holds deep spiritual significance for the tribal communities. The temple is peaceful, with cool interiors and sacred chants echoing through its chambers. You’ll also explore the surrounding nature trails, home to rare birds, butterflies, and forest flowers. Enjoy a light picnic or tea break under the canopy before returning to your hotel by evening. Overnight stay in Koraput.
This is the cultural highlight of the tour. After an early breakfast, head towards Onukudelli, home to the iconic Thursday tribal market (only on Thursdays). This market draws indigenous tribes like the Bonda, Gadaba, and Didayi, who descend from forest villages wearing traditional jewelry and vibrant clothes. It’s a rare chance to observe tribal barter systems, shop for handicrafts, and interact (respectfully) with these communities through your local guide. After soaking in the culture, proceed to the majestic Duduma Waterfalls, a 157-meter high twin fall located on the Machkund River. The view is spectacular, and the natural surroundings are ideal for peaceful moments, group photos, and packed lunch. By evening, drive back to your stay in Koraput. Overnight stay.
On the final day, rise early and drive to Deomali, the highest peak in Odisha at 1,672 meters above sea level. The summit offers stunning panoramic views of misty hills, valleys, and scattered tribal hamlets. Enjoy the tranquility and take memorable photos at sunrise. After a light breakfast, check out and transfer to Koraput Railway Station for your return journey — filled with stories of nature, heritage, and tribal legacy.
